Avoid over-reliance on dominant views (i.e. fields, convergent approaches/lingo)
For example, my desire to become familiar with linguistics as a field, but not wanting to get too bogged down in perfectly understanding and replicating all terminology and concepts to the extent it prevents me from externalising my own current views of the objects the terms/concepts refer to.
