Who?

At birth, I was assigned the label “Thea”, and people have referred to me as this throughout my life, so I guess that’s my name.

I have experienced almost 23 years as a human on this planet.

What?

I have thoughts and I want to share them. This site thing is a place to share them

Why?

I want to share thoughts for many reasons, some of which I either can’t (be bothered) or don’t want to verbalise right now. But the rest of them are:

  • Contribution. I want to feel like I’m contributing to some kind of collective effort to ask and answer interesting/important questions and solve interesting/important problems.
  • Self-explanation. I want to be able to explain myself to myself and others, and I find that trying to publicly organise my thoughts in a somewhat coherent way helps with this.
  • Validation. I want to feel like my thoughts (and by proxy, existence) are valid, and I have found that presenting/organising my thoughts both privately and publicly has generally helped me feel this way.

There is a lot of self-referential language (e.g. “I want”, “I feel”) floating around here. This repetition of self-reference serves to highlight that everything here reflects my own subjective experience, thoughts, feelings, desires, etc. This is my little corner of the internet. I own it (literally, I own the site, and metaphorically, I own the fact that these are my own thoughts).

I welcome and encourage others to do the same. Let’s open1 our minds to the world!

Footnotes

  1. I mean “open” bidirectionally: open our minds to process the thoughts of others, and share our thoughts for others to process.
